What we do to help
Youth Mentorship
Each one of our mentors is a real post-secondary student that has lived experience of what preparing for university feels like for immigrant high school students. This is what differentiates us from school counsellors or expensive academic consulting. We match you to a mentor based on similar backgrounds and your future career goals so you can truly optimize your post-secondary experience and ask questions to someone you can genuinely relate to.
Leadership Development Workshops
Workshops will be carried out by mentors aimed at fostering interpersonal skills and experience sharing. These workshops will be interactive, where mentees will be encouraged to lead the activities and describe how these skills will help them in a potential project.
Career Navigation
Our mentors will also help you find opportunities that will focus on career development based on your interest. Help with writing resume/CV, interview preparation and securing volunteer placements, will all be provided by Youth Achieve. We can also help you explore your career options based on your interests to help you decide what you want to pursue. Our mentors will be with you, as long as you need us.
Program Guidance
Youth Achieve mentors will also help you transition between high school and university. Our mentors will guide you with choosing major/minor programs and comparing institutions. Our aim is to dedicate our efforts to help you explore all your options and make the best decisions based on your aspirations for your future careers. When starting your university, our mentors will also help you select valuable courses to structure your degree and plan for your future career.
Community Outreach Projects
Youth Achieve will also encourage students to develop community project ideas, to foster entrepreneurial thinking and project management skills. The mentors will help immigrant students develop and execute community projects. The projects will be aimed at positively impacting the community and providing extracurricular opportunities to mentors and mentees.
